Charlottesville Roller Derby has multiple categories of membership –
there’s a place for everyone, including non-skating members.
Skate
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Women and gender-expansive individuals over the age of 18. There’s no age maximum! We have skaters from every age group and a variety of gender presentations.
MEMBERSHIP AND FEES
$40/month ($10 league membership + skater dues)
TRAINING
New skaters: We hold New Member Open Enrollment (NMOE) events at least once a year. Inexperienced skaters are encouraged, athletes are welcomed, and new exercisers are loved. Gear/skate rentals are available for this program for an additional fee.
Skating members: Post NMOE, skating members are eligible to join our league and enter our Stripes Program, where skaters progress their skills to be able to participate in scrimmages and bouts, and/or join the officials.
Officiate
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Anyone interested in reffing (inline skaters welcomed!), or officiating offskates (NSOing)
- Experienced coaches
MEMBERSHIP AND FEES
$40/month league membership.
TRAINING
We now have an Officials Training Program! The league is always in need of referees and non-skating officials (NSOs), and we can give you all the training you need to serve in one of these roles.
(We’re also always on the lookout for coaches – with or without roller derby-specific experience. Experience in athletic strategy and statistics is a plus.)
Volunteer
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Anyone interested in announcing, or volunteering at bouts or with administrative work (such as graphic design, grant writing, social media, project management, etc.)
MEMBERSHIP AND FEES
Non-voting volunteer member: free!
Voting volunteer member: $10/month league membership
TRAINING
We’ll teach you everything you need to know about derby and we’d love for you to teach us your unique skills as well!
Volunteers who help on game days and public scrimmage days (laying track, assisting NSOs, selling merch, etc.) receive free admission.
Visiting/Transfer

Anyone new to town, but not to derby

$5 drop-in fee per practice (Sunday afternoons/Wednesday evenings)

MEMBERSHIP AND FEES
Juniors program fees are on a sliding payment scale in an effort to prevent financial need from being a barrier to youth sports. See our registration description for details.
TRAINING
Inexperienced skaters are encouraged, athletes are welcomed, and new exercisers are loved! Gear and skate rentals (for an additional fee) are also available for our Juniors program.
